A large complement of Claypaky lighting fixtures played a key role in the recent performance of Israeli singer-songwriter Eden Hason at Menorah Arena, Tel Aviv. Sincopa Ltd provided Lighting Designer Shnaiderman with 160 Claypaky Sharpys, 70 Midi-Bs and 24 Scenius Unicos for the rig illuminating Hason, who is known for pop and Mizrahi music, which combines elements from the Middle East, North Africa and Europe.
The high-energy show had an emotional and powerful message with the artist sharing his personal journey with the audience and using the event to raise awareness of the ongoing war and hostage crisis.
“The performance marked a defining moment in Eden Hason’s career,” says Shnaiderman. “For years, he kept his true self hidden, but the moment he opened his heart to the world he felt an incredible closeness to his audience and those around him. There was a newfound sense of openness allowing him to connect more deeply and authentically with everyone. This night was not just a performance, it was a celebration of truth, love and unity.”
The creative vision for the show was to deliver an immersive and dynamic experience that balanced high-energy visual spectacle with deeply emotional moments. “The lighting and stage design needed to enhance Eden’s performance while also conveying a strong narrative,” explains Shnaiderman. “The goal was to use lighting, video content and effects to create a journey starting from an intimate and raw opening, building to powerful musical moments and concluding with a grand and emotional finale.”
The stage was designed to be both visually striking and versatile allowing for seamless transitions between different moods and moments in the show. Shnaiderman took a multi-layered approach to the lighting incorporating powerful beams, soft washes and intricate pixel mapping.
A large-scale LED screen setup, combined with 150m of SMD strip LED, was used to create immersive visual storytelling; fire effects, confetti and lasers added to the energy and the lighting and stage design were synchronized with the choreography, music and storytelling elements. Overall, the goal was to create a futuristic yet emotionally engaging atmosphere that enhanced both high-impact musical sections and more intimate moments.
“The Claypaky fixtures played a crucial role in defining the overall look and impact of the show,” Shnaiderman says. “They were chosen due to their unmatched reliability, brightness and versatility with each fixture serving a specific purpose.”
Known for their sharp beams and speed, the Sharpys were positioned on the stage floor and overhead trusses to create dynamic aerial effects and layered beams. The Midi-Bs were mounted in overhead trusses and at side lighting positions to provide rich color washes and precise movement, which were essential for enhancing the depth of the stage. The Scenius Unicos were placed in strategic locations to deliver key lighting and effects that enhanced the artist and the visual depth of the stage. This highly-flexible hybrid fixture’s powerful beams, smooth washes and stunning gobo effects provided both dramatic and subtle lighting transitions.
According to Shnaiderman, Claypaky fixtures stand out for many reasons. “The Sharpy’s narrow and intense beams cut through even the most saturated visual environments,” He says, “while the Midi-B offers superior color mixing with deep and vibrant hues. The Scenius Unico can function as both a spot and a wash light, making it incredibly versatile for different show segments. The durability and performance of all the Claypaky fixtures make them a top choice for high-profile productions.”
Shnaiderman notes that, “the Claypaky fixtures performed flawlessly throughout the event. Their consistency, precision and power played a major role in shaping the visual impact of the show. From high-speed chases to dramatic, atmospheric moments, the fixtures exceeded expectations in every aspect.”
Support from Claypaky “was outstanding,” as well. “The Claypaky team provided valuable technical insights during pre-production, ensuring that we maximized the potential of the fixtures,” Shnaiderman says. “Additionally, the fixtures’ reliability meant that the show ran smoothly without any technical issues.”
He points out that “the combination of lighting, video and special effects was carefully designed to support the storytelling and emotional impact of the show. The use of synchronized visuals, lighting chases and color transitions played a crucial role in bringing the performance to life. Additionally, the integration of advanced technology, such as the Chamsys MQ500M consoles, ensured full control over the visual experience, making the show both technically impressive and emotionally powerful.”
