UK – Ten of entertainment lighting technology’s major companies have confirmed their status as official Gold sponsors for this year’s Knight of Illumination Awards (KOI).
Avolites, Cast Lighting, ETC, Green Hippo, Hawthorn Theatrical, HSL, MA Lighting, PRG, Rosco, and Wireless Solutions are all ramping up support for this September’s event, which is the only awards ceremony dedicated to professional lighting designers in the UK.
The coveted ‘Gold’ sponsorship position offers representatives from each company the opportunity to work with KOI organizers and present a specific award at the 2012 Ceremony, held in a central London venue.
“The response to the sponsorship opportunities available this year have been incredible,” comments KOI Coordinator and lighting designer, Durham Marenghi. “Equally the response from nominees and nominators from the theatre, television and live music sectors have been extremely high quality.”
Now in its fifth year, the Knight of Illumination Awards provides public recognition for outstanding achievements in Lighting Design by lighting designers working on productions in the UK. Organised by the STLD (Society of Television Lighting Designers), the ALD (Association of Lighting Designers) and Clay Paky, the Awards event recognises lighting designers from the areas of live music, television, and theatre events.
“The STLD is pleased to be part of the Knight of Illumination event as it brings together lighting practitioners from different genres in a way no other event has ever done before,” says STLD member and respected TV LD, Bernie Davis. “As the wider lighting industry has got more involved so the interest has broadened, while ensuring the craft remains the focus for the evening. This can only be a good thing for the future of the event and for the recognition of lighting design in general.”
The ten companies join the event’s main corporate sponsor OSRAM.
Martin Locket, CEO, UK Operations for PRG, and a Gold sponsor partner for this year’s event says: “PRG is hugely proud to be sponsoring the Knight of Illumination Awards 2012. It’s great to be a part of something that recognizes the excellent work of lighting designers in live events, television, and theatre who all too often goes uncelebrated. Sponsoring the KOI awards is an important way for us to give back to the lighting community.”
Steve Warren, managing director of Avolites and AI Media Ltd concurs: “Avolites and Avolites Media are delighted to be Gold sponsors of the Knight of Illumination Awards 2012. KOI performs a crucial function in highlighting the fantastic work produced by both established and upcoming lighting designers, while also raising the profile of the industry and its people as a whole.”
Although all the Gold Sponsorship opportunities for this year’s event are filled, The KOI Awards committee is still accepting offers for Silver level sponsorship partners. Interested parties can join Artistic Licence, Ambersphere, DBN and Siyan who are already showing their support. For more information on the benefits of Silver Sponsorship please contact Durham Marenghi (mail@durhamld.com) or Pio Nahum (pio.nahum@claypaky.it) of Clay Paky.
The Fifth Annual Knight of Illumination Awards will take place in Central London. Nominations for the highly sought-after Knight of Illumination Sword are open until the end of June. Past events have successfully brought together professionals from across the lighting industry for the benefit of the lighting design community.
