Clay Paky and Vector 10 (Clay Paky Mexico distributor), in collaboration with Miller Mix, Grupo Communica and Ingenieria Electrodigital, organised a professional lighting seminar in Mexico City which was held at the Flamingo Plasa Hotel from 31 January to 2 February and attended by almost 300 people. This is one of those events which will leave its mark as it is the first meeting between the most important Lighting Designers and lighting operators ever to be held in Mexico.
Over the course of the three days Francesco Romagnoli, Clay Paky Sales Manager for the Americas, and Jorge Aguirre, President of Vector 10, demonstrated the Mexican market trends which are giving some very interesting indications. Indeed all sectors are in constant growth: from discotheques, to touring, TV and the architectural sector.
The seminar conducted by Patrick Woodroffe, universally known as one of the most important Lighting Designers in the world, was a topical moment. During his career Woodroffe has designed the lights for the shows of many revered rock stars (Bob Dylan, Michael Jackson, Phil Collins, Rolling Stones and Tina Turner to name but a few) as well as theatrical shows, festivals, musicals, industrial presentations and fashion shows. During the seminar he illustrated the techniques and technologies of professional lighting, drawing fully on his own very rich experience.
The final day was dedicated to an Open day, which recorded very full attendance by operators in the sector. The complete range of Clay Paky products were present, including the new Golden Spot 1200 and Golden Color 1200 moving body units, which are very powerful, rich in effects and colours, also accessible to limited budgets.
Francesco Romagnoli also introduced the “Silent Version” models, totally innovative as they are designed and made by Clay Paky for all environments in which silence is essential: theatres, television studios, interior architectural ambience (museums, large shows, industrial presentations and conventions). Among these models the Stage Profile Plus SV, a professional beam shaper – with patented profile system – which allows in a very defined projection quadrilaterals and triangles of all shapes and sizes.
Clay Paky then organised an evening party with dinner at “Zipango” (inside the Hippodromo de Las Americas), where seminar guests were present. The meeting was a further occasion to bring together operators, technicians and show business personalities for an evening of relaxed conviviality entirely lit by Clay Paky projectors.
